First Friday Artist Reception

Our First Friday reception event is January 9. Come and meet our artists and view the artwork on exhibit. As always, there are complimentary refreshments and an enjoyable evening with artists and friends. Sign up to win the monthly raffle basket. Drawing for the winner is the last Friday of the month.

JANET FLICKINGER, Fundamentals of Drawing. The foundation of all art is drawing. If you are a beginner or just want to sharpen your skills, this is a must. All ages welcome. Focus is on perspective, balance, form and contrast as it relates to composition, training the eye to take a drawing from sketch to finish.  Supply List

Critique Corner

Every last Saturday morning of the month 10:30-12:00

Sit and sip and join the fun at Island Gallery and Studios for these free interactive discussion sessions on what makes a good piece of art. For example, are you stuck in your current painting? Are you having trouble deciding whether or not it's finished? Is it missing something, but you don't know exactly what?

We could have answers for you! We will look at basic design elements such as balance, space, color distribution and value. Come join a few of our gallery members as we introduce you to Critique Corner.

We invite you to just come and listen or bring your paintings, particularly those that might have a problem, and we'll help you work through the issues. It's a wonderful learning experience and interesting conversation full of insight and inspiration. Each session will address different issues, so come to one session or all for something a little different each time. Take advantage of this opportunity to add to your ART bucket! See you there.

Please check scheduling on our Calendar page. Art Demos are free but there is a fee and sometimes a materials list for Paint With a Pro. Teaching Artist, medium and subject matter vary. Check our Calendar page for specifics.

Looking for a place to entertain customers or employees for the evening? Provide them with whatever snacks or beverages that you wish to provide in the relaxed, enjoyable surroundings of a local fine art gallery.

We are located on festive and historic Old Main Street in Downtown Bradenton where there is abundant local parking in nearby public garages.

Maximum: 50 guests
Price: $100/hr (2-hour minimum)
